Artist, SFX Wig & Hair - Universal Horror Unleashed. Universal Orlando Resort invites you to apply for the Artist, SFX Wig & Hair role. Universal Horror Unleashed is a terrifyingly unique experience at Area 15, featuring dark environments with special effects, strobe lights, fog, and artificial smells. Job Summary
Responsible for designing, constructing, styling, and maintaining wigs, eyebrows, beards, mustaches, and related hair costume pieces in accordance with approved designs. Cut, clean, and style wigs; work with adhesive hair application, removals, cleaning, and restyling. Collaborate with makeup artists, costume designers, and directors to ensure wigs align with the creative vision and IP, especially when integrated with prosthetics or special effects. Maintain the integrity and creative intent of each design in alignment with Universal standards.
Responsibilities
Creates custom wigs using human or synthetic hair; builds wig foundations using lace, netting, and other materials; ventilates hair strand-by-strand for realism; integrates wigs with prosthetics or SFX as required; constructs wigs and hair pieces for Universal Horror Unleashed looks.
Maintains wigs and related hair pieces by following wash, resetting, and maintenance schedules; monitors inventory and documents usage; communicates concerns to leadership for sustainable material use; maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Collaborates with SFX Makeup, Prosthetics & Wigs leadership to train performers in wig and prosthetic application and removal while preserving look integrity.
Participates in fittings with performers and performs alterations as required.
Applies and maintains prosthetic hair and lace pieces (eyebrows, beards, mustaches) and handles adhesive removal, styling, cleaning, and ventilation as needed.
Provides wig and hair support for Public Relations, Marketing, seasonal overlays, and special events.
Adheres to Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Demonstrated experience and proficiency in wig construction, styling, setting, cutting, blocking, cleaning, maintenance, ventilating, and punching.
Experience with head tracings and wig fittings for comfort and realism.
Proficiency with materials and supplies used in creating and maintaining wigs, human hair, and prosthetic/lace hair pieces.
Experience fitting, altering, and repairing full lace cap or lace front wigs.
Ability to teach Wig & Hair techniques; strong customer service skills.
Knowledge of period and contemporary hairstyles.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes; flexible schedule based on business demands.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Nevada state certifications required, including OSHA 10 and Nevada Cosmetology license.
Education
Cosmetology License required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Theatre or Film is a plus.
Experience
4+ years of experience with wig styling, setting, cutting, blocking, cleaning, and maintenance; theatrical wig experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
