Reporting to:
Director of Athletics
Position Overview Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Coach – Men’s Basketball is responsible for assisting the Head Coach – Men’s Basketball with all aspects of the intercollegiate men’s basketball program. The role emphasizes academic achievement, program integrity, recruiting, player development, practice and game strategy, and travel logistics.
Responsibilities
Promote a culture that fosters academic achievement and protects program integrity.
Assist the Head Coach with monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.
Evaluate and recruit potential student-athletes.
Develop sport skills, athleticism, character, and academic skill set for current student-athletes.
Assist with creating and implementing practice plans.
Assist with creating and implementing game strategies.
Assist with evaluating opponents.
Assist with safe transportation of student-athletes to and from competition sites.
Assist with safe provision of food during competition travel.
Assist with effective management of program inventory and raising funds.
Adhere to all applicable Garden State Athletic Conference, Region 19, NJCAA, Hudson County Community College, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree.
Minimum 2 years of playing, coaching or administering within a college level or professional level men’s basketball program.
General knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills.
Valid driver’s license.
First Aid/ CPR Certification or willingness to attain.
