Teacher/Education Specialist - Rite of Passage
The Rite of Passage Short-Term Residential Therapy Program sites have enabled thousands of at-risk youth to move beyond their troubled home lives and negative former school experiences. The position will require travel to sites in San Andreas, CA, Minden, NV, and Placerville, CA.
Under the supervision of the director/principal, provide special education case management, conduct IEP meetings, support instructional staff with strategies for special education students, and deliver instructional services related to applied curriculum. Emphasize a hands‑on skills approach that supports vocational programs and ties directly into the curriculum delivered in other subject areas.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree and a valid California teaching credential. Eligibility for either a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist and a Single Subject Credential or a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist and Multiple Subject Credential.
Experience: Successful classroom teaching experience; demonstrated success in teaching at‑risk students, including appropriate curriculum design, lesson planning, and clinical teaching.
Travel: Willingness to travel to multiple sites.
Credential Reimbursement and Signing Bonus
Two one‑time $5,000 installments after the first and second year of employment (maximum $10,000).
Eligibility: New hire not currently employed by EDCOE, hired as a teacher in Rite of Passage requiring a mild to moderate or moderate to severe special education credential. Bonus not paid if first or second year not completed.
