Overview
Saint Mary’s College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology beginning Fall 2026. We seek a candidate with specialization in genetics, molecular biology, or microbiology. Research experience in prokaryotes is welcome but not required. Teach a load of 9 teaching contact hours per semester (3 lectures or labs), potentially including Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology, depending on the candidate’s experience and expertise. Maintain an active research program that involves undergraduate researchers. Provide service to the Biology Department and the broader campus community, including attendance at meetings and faculty events, academic advising of students, and participation in Departmental and Campus committees aligned with the candidate’s interests. Qualifications
PhD in Biology. Strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy and to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts context. Research expertise in prokaryotes is an asset, but not required. Application Materials

After reviewing these materials, the search committee will invite a short list of candidates to participate in Zoom and on-campus interviews to take place in Fall 2025. If invited to progress to the next round of consideration, you will be asked to provide three letters of recommendation, and undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
