High school diploma or GED Must be a U.S. citizen Must be twenty (20) years and six (6) months of age at the time of application, and 21 years of age prior to the completion of the Sheriff's academy. Must meet Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) standards, as determined through the pre-employment process, as indicated here:

Deputy Sheriff - Lateral
position. Specialized training, certifications, and/or other requirements
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license. Must provide a valid government issued birth certificate at the time of background processing. Certified by the State of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) as a Peace Officer. Training on FEMA NIMS IS100 AND 700, OSHA, payroll, and PREA will be provided on-the-job. Additional requirements
Complete orientation, background investigation, polygraph examination, written examination, physical readiness assessment (PRA), medical exam, and psychological exam prior to hiring. Essential Job Tasks
The Deputy Sheriff enforces laws and maintains order while protecting life and property, ensuring public safety in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies. Criminal investigations: Conducts traffic and criminal investigations, collects evidence, interviews victims, witnesses, suspects, develops probable cause, makes arrests, and executes search warrants. Response to calls for service: Responds quickly to emergencies, uses appropriate force, issues warnings and citations to ensure safety and law compliance. Patrol duties: Maintains community safety, responds to criminal activity, engages with the community, and conducts proactive policing. Training: Attends and implements required law enforcement training as specified by AZ POST and MCSO. Administration: Communicates effectively, documents incidents, operates equipment, and accesses records as required. Selection Procedure
The department admits only the most qualified candidates to the exam process, which includes orientation, written exam, and physical assessment. Successful candidates will be interviewed and selected by the hiring authority. Additional Information
