REPORTS TO: School Leader Responsibilities
Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g., reading stories, listening to students read, language, spelling, facilitating activities, motor perception programs, colors, number charts, checks homework) to reinforce learning concepts and help students reach their academic goals. Attends meetings with site After School Lead and after-school staff trainings to coordinate activities and learn instructional techniques. Implements instructional learning activities to improve students\' academic, physical and social skills. Coordinates with and supports external partners providing before/after school programming. Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and students\' files/records (e.g., adapting instructional materials, taking attendance, checking homework, grading papers, emergency cards, AV equipment) to ensure availability of items and reliable information. Monitors students in various settings (classroom, playground, library) to enforce school rules and provide a safe, respectful, multicultural learning environment. Performs record keeping and clerical tasks (e.g., copying, correcting papers, attendance) to provide necessary records/materials and support student success. Promotes good habits to improve student outcomes and development. Assists other personnel as needed to support them in completing their work activities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
REQUIRED
Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment PREFERRED
Current BPS employee or familiarity with BPS Associate\'s Degree or higher, especially in Education Experience teaching in urban schools Linguistic diversity valued; fluency in one of BPS\' official languages (Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali) is a plus Terms
Temporary, part-time Hours to be determined by program (before or after school) Non-discrimination
