Klaw Miami Essential Function:Lead the preparation of a wide range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.Supervise and mentor pastry cooks, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with kitchen standards.Maintain high standards for product quality, including taste, texture, and presentation of all baked goods.Work with the culinary team to develop new pastry items, update menus, and innovate dessert offerings.Ensure proper inventory levels of ingredients and assist in ordering supplies when necessary.Maintain a clean and organized pastry station, ensuring proper food storage and sanitation practices are followed.Train new pastry staff on kitchen procedures, equipment, and pastry techniques to ensure consistency in product quality.Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including cleanliness, proper handling of ingredients, and safe operation of kitchen equipment.Manage multiple baking tasks efficiently, ensuring that all items are ready in time for service.Address customer concerns or requests related to pastries, ensuring satisfaction with dessert offerings.

Department Responsibilities

Arrives punctually for scheduled shifts, adhering to company attendance policy. Demonstrates proper care and respect for company property. Attend pre-shift meetings and training sessions to stay informed about menu items, specials, and service protocols. Adhere to cleaning checklists and fulfill duties as assigned diligently. Consistently maintaining compliance of kitchen safety policies and procedures. Remains actively engaged and present in the pastry kitchen operations during service hours. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the food and beverage menu. Communicates issues or suggestions to the management team for resolution and improvement. Adapts professionally and contributes to teamwork to enhance customer experience. Maintains focus and remains on-task throughout the shift. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred. Assist in training new pastry cooks, ensuring they understand service standards and operational procedures. Communicate effectively with front of the house staff to ensure smooth service flow. Ensure the working area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary materials. Skills and qualifications:

Required SkillsStrong knowledge of pastry techniques and baking methods, including both traditional and modern pastry skills.Ability to create and execute a variety of dessert styles, including plated desserts, cakes, tarts, and pastries.Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise pastry cooks.Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality presentation.Strong organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize tasks effectively.Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling of ingredients. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. Preferred Skills

Experience with dessert decoration and presentation techniques. Creativity and innovation in developing new pastry items and dessert concepts. Proficiency in kitchen management software (if applicable). Strong communication skills, both within the pastry team and with other kitchen staff. Qualifications Culinary degree or formal pastry training (preferred). 2+ years of experience in a pastry kitchen, with at least 1 year in a leadership role (required). Proven experience creating a wide range of desserts and baked goods. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
