An established, full-service architecture, engineering and interior design firm with a corporate office environment seeks a hands-on
Controller
with skills to provide leadership and management of our accounting department and activities and provides financial and accounting support to the firm leadership, other departments within the company and clients.
Candidates should have excellent written and communication skills with enthusiasm for hands-on financial reporting; overseeing a small team to produce and deliver accurate and timely financial information; and collaborating with management regarding information needed to make key business decisions. Candidates must be able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks with little oversight; and solve problems independently.
Management and oversight of team to include an AP/Payroll Specialist and Project Accountant, ensuring adequate training, cross training, and staff development
Ensure an accurate and timely month-end and year-end close, preparing journal entries, providing analysis of company financial results to management, including KPI’s
Annual budget: Assist in the preparation of all company/department budgets, actual operating results and providing forecast to actual analysis
Prepare reports, which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income and expenses based on past, present and expected operations
Cash management, including oversight and review of weekly cash requirements including payments, investment fund transfers and management, and payables and aging maintenance
Banking, general account administration and oversight
Oversee and review of payroll as well as general ledger account reconciliations performed by AP/Payroll Specialist.
General Ledger account reconciliation and analysis.
Project reporting and analysis.
Coordinate with tax consultant for preparation of corporate tax returns
Policy review and renewals for all business insurances
Fixed Assets –update outside CPA firm with additions and disposals.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement change to increase efficiency, streamline workflow, and create and maintain effective controls
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested

Extensive knowledge of accounting and principles
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
10 years or more of progressive accounting experience to include: GL, AR, AP, Project Accounting, Forecast and Budgeting
Strong knowledge of Excel and ERP systems
Project accounting experience
CPA preferred
Professional services accounting experience a plus
