Principal Environmental (EIA) Consultant

WSP in the U.S. The role is to lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments, working with a range of technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to improve environmental performance of projects from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction and handover/ maintenance. What you will do
Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues Work with colleagues, diverse environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement Lead large, multiple, and complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities to support resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery Proactively develop new client relationships and pursue marketing services and cross-selling, including presenting at conferences on behalf of WSP Undertake activities to secure new work, including developing proposals for complex opportunities, delivering strategic level bids and framework opportunities, and pursuing business development opportunities Lead on and contribute to the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we do our business (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA) Drive performance improvement and career advancement opportunities across the team Promote and build team culture and act as a ‘go to’ person within the wider team, supporting others in problem solving and achieving team and business goals Promote an inclusive workplace, demonstrate health and safety awareness, and live the values of WSP’s health, safety, and wellbeing culture Contribute toward the success of the WSP business strategy, while being self-motivated toward goals relevant to the role, team, and projects What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar Chartered Environmental status and full membership of IEMA, or similar professional qualification Excellent experience of EIA and EIA processes with ability to work with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation Verbal and written communication skills including report writing and reviewing with attention to detail Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., rail, highways, energy, commercial/residential) Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting, and quality assurance About the role and benefits
