We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Payroll Business Analyst. The successful candidate will be highly analytical and detail-oriented, overseeing the efficiency and compliance of internal payments made to unions and voluntary deduction vendors. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment processing, performing monthly reconciliations, and analyzing data to identify and resolve discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of payment processes to maintain balanced and compliant transactions each month. This role supports comprehensive payroll functions, including union processing, wage garnishment administration, and voluntary employee deductions, and ensures accurate setup, maintenance, and reconciliation of union-related deductions and benefits in full compliance with applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). The individual will collaborate with Payroll, Remittance, and internal departments to facilitate accurate payments and address issues as they arise. The scope of this role can include the processing and reconciliation of all payroll-related wage garnishment activities in strict accordance with federal and state regulations, including child support orders, tax levies, and other legal obligations. A strong commitment to confidentiality, data integrity, and regulatory compliance is essential to success in this role. Job Responsibilities

Ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all internal payments generated by Payroll Services Verifying payroll union and employee voluntary deductions data integrity Serve as point of contact to work closely with Payroll Remittance team, as well as internal colleagues such as Accounts Payables, Budgets and General Ledger Accounting, to ensure timely payments and reconciliations Work with management to implement improvement initiatives specific to deduction processing Support annual union budget forecasting with NYU Budgets Reconcile annual 1199 Union Benefit Fund Flat Rate calculations Support internal and external audits as needed Demonstrate creative thinking when seeking alternative solutions to processes and challenges related to internal payments Communicate clearly and concisely with customers in a professional and timely manner Efficiently organize and manage tasks/projects; delegate to appropriate personnel as needed Participate in evaluation and redesign of internal processes as needed Union & Deduction Administration

Support the monthly processing and reconciliation of payroll for multiple union groups, ensuring timely and accurate remittances Responsible for monthly preparation, review, accuracy, and processing of payments for both employee union deductions and employer contributions Maintain and update union-related deductions and employer contributions in compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) Act as liaison between NYU Payroll Services, unions (including 1199), and employees to resolve union deduction issues confidentially and professionally Manage voluntary premiums and rent deductions in coordination with NYU RED&F Monitor and assist Payroll staff with resolving 1199 union disability disputes Work closely with 1199 representatives on disability processing issues Garnishment Administration

Process wage garnishments including child support, tax levies, and court-ordered deductions; ensure accurate calculation and payment Set up and maintain garnishment tables in the PeopleSoft HRMS system Prepare and submit disclosures and documentation related to garnishment orders; respond to inquiries from government agencies and employees Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and maintain detailed reports for garnishment and union payments; support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis Reconcile payroll deduction data with vendor payments in collaboration with NYU Accounting Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, CBAs, and internal payroll policies Develop and refine payroll procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, IT, or a healthcare-related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in business process analysis, financial or data analysis, or related tasks. Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel, Word, and Visio. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; five years of nonprofit, healthcare, or related payroll experience with strong knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger, and month/year-end close; 2-3 years of PeopleSoft HCM system experience; ability to interpret and advise on finance and accounting policies; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP); ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers; ability to maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
