Description ALLEGACY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION Position Description POSITION TITLE: Commercial Credit Underwriter REPORTS TO: VP, Commercial Credit Officer Role Accountability At Allegacy, there’s a common thread that runs through all of us. In order to achieve this success, this position will counsel our commercial lenders regarding cash flow, risk analysis, loan structure, and resource referrals. Additionally, it will identify problem loans and direct these to the VP, Commercial Credit Officer promptly. Major Duties And Responsibilities Support lending staff in identifying and assessing business-purpose loan opportunities. Complete financial statement analysis, spreads, projections, personal cash flow analysis, consolidated cash flow analysis, and risk grade documentation. Mentor regarding loan structure, eligibility, credit issues, and underwriting to members of the commercial banking department. Assist in evaluating loan requests by performing initial underwriting and risk grade analysis for approval. Perform industry research and assessment as needed by the VP, Commercial Credit Officer. Identify problem loans and direct these to the VP, Commercial Credit Officer promptly. Support the VP, Commercial Credit Officer in NCUA Examinations and CUNA Risk Assessments. Monitor Special Asset credits and work with the Commercial Credit Officer to develop and execute viable exit strategies and business plans. Develop a network for information exchange with other financial institutions to ensure best practices. Develop and refine underwriting and analysis tools for various types of business loans. Ensure accurate loan documentation, manage exception issues, and oversee loan processing in accordance with regulations and policies. Complete all required compliance training, including BSA. Represent AFCU in communities by participating in civic and professional organizations to enhance its image. Perform additional responsibilities as requested. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and database applications. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Regulatory knowledge and understanding. Strong analytical and judgmental skills. Requirements Education / Experience: 4-year college degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; related training such as Commercial Bank Lending School preferred. 7-10 years of financial analytical experience with commercial loans, understanding the lending process, laws, regulations, credit, and risk assessment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Extensive PC application knowledge, teamwork skills, excellent communication, ability to travel, and professional representation of Allegacy Federal Credit Union.
