Overview As part of the Consumer Lending team, the Consumer Loan Processor plays a key role in delivering our members products aimed at improving their financial wellbeing. Responsibilities include working closely with our members through the fulfillment and funding process for all consumer loan products and collaborating internally with the Consumer Underwriters, Branches and Member Contact Center representatives. The successful candidate must display a high level of integrity, communication, initiative and problem resolution skills, strong time management and organizational skills to manage a large pipeline of loans.
Responsibilities
Manage a pipeline of various consumer lending loan products, including auto loans, unsecured and secured personal loans, and credit cards.
Serve as a member liaison during the fulfillment process, providing timely updates.
Calculate income by reviewing bank statements, deciphering tax returns and verifying employment.
Accurately communicate all document and data requirements to fulfill the loan.
Communicate professionally with members, internal team and external third parties.
Read credit reports and interpret information for members.
Calculate loan‑to‑value and debt ratios.
Review required documentation to ensure information satisfies procedural requirements and aligns with current policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Obtain and verify the required Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) forms to properly record the credit union’s lien on the collateral and/or make any updates to title.
Review approved loan terms with the member prior to funding.
Identify and properly escape irregularities and inconsistencies as a line of defense in fraud prevention.
Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act/Anti‑Money Laundering compliance) and Patelco Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
Achieve and maintain department/organizational goals related to quality, production and member satisfaction.
Perform other duties as required.
Assume responsibility for work assignments.
Maintain positive engagement.
Qualifications
Must have HS Diploma/GED.
Previous consumer or mortgage lending experience preferred but not required.
Prior customer service experience.
Ability to mathematically compute rate, ratios and percentages.
MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Excellent customer service skills, both verbally and written.
Must excel in a fast‑paced environment.
Well organized, team‑player, self‑motivated and flexible with working hours based on volume.
Ability to multi‑task and detail oriented.
Target Base Pay $27.00/hr
