AXA XL As Underwriter II - Fine Arts, you will be responsible for delivering a profitable ‘Underwriting’ service to your clients. Your key tasks include: underwriting business within the agreed business plan and individual authority; supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits; maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims; ensuring adequate reinsurance acquired to cover specific risks; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; supporting the design and structure of risks. What you’ll be doing Reviewing Fine Art submissions within the existing renewal book of business - including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account. Calculating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the sector, reinsurance cessions, as well as the Underwriting and general administration costs while ensuring profitability. Exercising discretion and self-supported judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk. Building new relationships with brokers and clients whilst also leveraging existing relationships with a view to growing the Fine Art portfolio profitably. Representing AXA XL at external broker and client meetings as well as at industry events. Participating in roundtable discussions on risk assessment and providing mentorship to peers. Maintaining expertise with the products, services, priorities, and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden risks. Maintaining compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements. Supporting the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure within outlined limits; monitor premium income to ensure it remains within set limits. Identifying and driving new product development opportunities. Effectively cross-marketing with other AXA XL lines; meet with brokers and insureds as required. Cultivate key broker relationships in the region to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite. Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards. You will report to the Underwriting Manager. The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 85,000 - 149,000. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location.
