What you’ll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include?

We are building for the future, and the US energy casualty product for retail brokers is an important piece of how we support our clients. This role will focus on product development and alignment for the first six months and then implement that strategy in an underwriting role with continued management of the product and wordings. We are looking for someone who wants to build and implement their strategy in partnership with brokers and internal stakeholders.

Develop a roadmap to drive to market AXA XL’s US primary casualty energy solution in partnership with key supporting functions including Pricing & Actuarial, Legal, Operations, Claims, Compliance, and Global Underwriting Office

Develop the overall appetite and go-to-market strategy for aligned product set, ensuring breadth of appetite allows to maximize and deliver profitable growth for the line of business, retains an industry leading position, and serves the evolving needs of our customer base

Partner closely with counterparts across AXA XL to understand our full suite of products, appetite, and opportunities to introduce cross-sell options as well as innovative, integrated products that better address our client’s unique exposures

Underwrite, manage and service a Primary Casualty Energy portfolio and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals

Exercise discretion and self-directed judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk

Participate in roundtable discussions on risk assessment

Negotiate with producers within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives

Build and enhance relationships with US retail brokers and clients to align on appetite and opportunities in the market and to identify and establish new distribution relationships

As an industry thought leader for the Energy Casualty space, represent AXA XL at key industry events and conferences alongside key broker partners, insureds, and potential prospects

You will report to the Head of Energy Transition, Americas.

What you’ll bring We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Property Energy Underwriting experience or a related area of expertise (energy or property underwriting) with a robust conceptual comprehension of oil & gas, power generation, renewable and low-carbon energy, and energy-related industries

Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations

Outstanding collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment

Business development skills evidencing a successful track record driving profitable growth

Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills

The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills

The ability to travel a minimum of 15% of the time is anticipated

A bachelor’s degree is required

Continuing education or professional designations in insurance underwriting and information privacy

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 106,500 - 186,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
