We are actively seeking a
Controller (VP of Accounting)
who will serve as the senior financial leader responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic financial analysis. This role will lead the accounting function through a period of significant growth and expansion, ensuring scalable processes, robust internal controls, and accurate financial reporting to support our ambitious growth targets. The Controller will partner closely with the CFO and executive team on strategic initiatives while building a world-class accounting organization.
*This is a hybrid position working in our Irvine, CA office 2-3 days per week.
JOB DUTIES Strategic Leadership & Operations
Lead and develop the accounting team including the Director of Accounting and all accounting staff, including revenue, expense, treasury, and compliance
Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to support scalable growth to 3x today’s business size
Establish and maintain enterprise-wide internal control framework and ensure compliance readiness
Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory reporting requirements
Manage external audit relationships and coordinate audit activities
Prepare and present financial reports to executive team, board of directors, and private equity stakeholders
Lead implementation of new accounting standards and complex accounting treatments
Revenue Recognition & SaaS Metrics
Oversee revenue recognition processes for complex SaaS subscription models and multi-element arrangements
Work closely with FP&A to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of key SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, customer acquisition costs, etc.)
Partner with Revenue Operations on system integrations and data integrity between Salesforce, CPQ, and accounting systems
Lead accounting evaluation of new product launches and pricing models
Acquisition Integration & Growth Support
Lead accounting due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions
Develop accounting frameworks for new business models and geographic expansion
Support private equity reporting requirements and investor relations activities
Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Systems & Process Optimization
Lead evaluation and implementation of advanced accounting systems and technologies
Drive integration improvements between Sage Intacct, Salesforce, CPQ, and other business systems
Establish scalable processes for payroll, tax compliance, and operational accounting functions
Implement advanced reporting capabilities and departmental dashboards
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA certification required
15+ years of progressive accounting experience with 5+ years in senior controller or equivalent roles
Minimum 5 years of experience in high-growth SaaS companies
Private equity portfolio company experience strongly preferred
Expert-level knowledge of GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition
Advanced proficiency with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and CPQ systems
Strong experience with acquisition accounting and purchase price allocations
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting automation tools
Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls frameworks
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing accounting teams through periods of rapid growth
Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to interact with C-level executives and board members
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Track record of driving process improvements and system implementations
Preferred Qualifications
Big Four or other public accounting background
Experience with international accounting standards and multi-currency environments
Experience with dental industry or healthcare technology preferred
Previous experience scaling accounting operations in private equity-backed companies
