The Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance is one of two programs in Florida offering degree programs in risk management and insurance. It is also one of the few named schools of risk management and insurance in the country. The school benefits from industry support, an active Risk Advisory Council, and aims to be a leading program in its field. The school collaborates with the Sarasota-Manatee campus, Muma College of Business, industry partners, and stakeholders to educate future risk management professionals, produce impactful research, and serve the community through information dissemination. The Muma College of Business operates across all three USF campuses and has received significant funding and recognition for its programs and scholarships. USF is a member of the AAU, a high-impact research university, with rapid growth in rankings, serving over 50,000 students across Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee. It is nationally recognized for its success in graduating under-represented and limited-income students, and is designated as a Preeminent State Research University. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY:
The university invites applications for a full-time Instructor in Risk Management and Insurance at the Sarasota-Manatee campus. Due to growth, two positions are available. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance, Actuarial Science, or related fields, or expect to complete one before the start date. Candidates with a master’s degree and significant professional experience will also be considered. The role involves teaching courses in risk management and insurance, supporting student engagement, and demonstrating online teaching abilities. Certification as a Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic under AACSB guidelines is preferred. This is a 9-month full-time position, with summer compensation optional. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution or equivalent qualifications. Ability to meet AACSB criteria for Scholarly or Instructional Practitioner designation. Preferred Qualifications: Relevant professional experience in risk management and insurance. Proven teaching ability at undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Ph.D. or equivalent in related fields, or a master’s with significant experience. Ability to support the school’s growth and student development. Meeting AACSB designation criteria. Other Qualifications: Service contributions to the university and profession. Collegiality and good reputation in previous programs or organizations.
