SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America. The Indirect Tax Manager will manage the sales and use and property tax compliance process and assist in all aspects of planning and sales tax audit matters for indirect taxes. This is a unique role that partners with corporate and business unit teams during the estimating, contracting, and invoicing processes and is considered an essential strategic contributor to the business. Position Responsibilities and Duties
Gather and consolidate data and coordinate with the internal team to review sales and use tax returns, and personal property tax returns across all U.S. states Perform tax technical research related to sales and use tax and other indirect tax matters Manage and assist with invoice sales tax reviews and use tax accrual reviews Assist in validating data and proper calculation and collection of sales tax in all states utilizing third-party tools such as Avalara Work with vendors and internal purchasing or operations teams on sales & use tax matters, including contract pricing and obtaining the various exemptions and/or resale certificates for construction projects Perform reviews of indirect tax language in customer contracts and propose favorable contract language Support procurement teams on sales tax on purchases Assess taxable, non-taxable, versus exempt classifications Prepare resale certificates on behalf of the company and manage tax collection of customer exemption certificates Identify and support process improvement efforts to develop accurate and tax efficient indirect tax processes throughout the business Document indirect tax issues and resolutions Assist with indirect tax audits, refund claims and coordinate responses to various tax authorities Observe and maintain tax calendar for indirect tax licenses, filings Assist with general ledger account reconciliation for indirect tax accruals and cash tax payments Partner with business leaders in guiding and influencing strategic business initiatives Supervise and mentor team members Complete other responsibilities as assigned Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
10+ years of work experience as an indirect tax professional in public accounting or at a large public company Advanced computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing and database software and/or business systems Experience working across multiple states Experience working with sales and use tax software (Avalara) and research tools Qualities for Success in the Role
