About the Company Our client is a growing, forward-looking organization in the insurance sector, seeking an experienced Controller to join their leadership team. This is a high-visibility role with ownership of accounting operations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in the insurance industry, with hands-on experience in NAIC filings and statutory reporting. The Opportunity As Controller, you will oversee the integrity of the company’s financial statements, ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and partner with senior leadership to support business strategy. This is a leadership position offering the chance to shape processes, mentor staff, and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation and review of NAIC quarterly and annual statements and other statutory filings Ensure compliance with statutory accounting principles (SAP), GAAP, and regulatory guidelines Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering growth and accountability Partner with actuarial, finance, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting Manage external auditor relationships and coordinate annual audits Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy Provide executive leadership with insights into financial performance, trends, and risks What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA. 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership in the insurance industry Strong knowledge of NAIC statutory reporting, statutory accounting principles, and GAAP Experience with financial reporting systems and advanced Excel skills Proven success in leading and developing accounting teams Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to executives and regulators Ability to balance detail orientation with big-picture strategic thinking Why Join Us Leadership role with executive exposure and decision-making influence Opportunity to shape processes and controls in a dynamic environment Competitive compensation package, heavy bonus eligibility, and comprehensive benefits Collaborative, mission-driven culture with a focus on long-term success Seniority level:
