The Property Accountant is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of residential properties. This includes multifamily, condominium, and HOA/association accounts. The role ensures accurate monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
Position Summary
Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned residential properties on a timely basis.
Post and review general ledger entries, accruals, and adjusting journal entries
Reconcile bank accounts, reserve accounts, escrow balances, and intercompany activity
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring vendor and resident transactions are processed accurately.
Prepare and review annual operating budgets and association reserve schedules.
Perform CAM reconciliations and track homeowner/tenant assessments
Maintain balance sheet account schedules and supporting documentation
Partner with property managers, board members, and senior leadership to deliver accurate and timely financial information
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum 3 years of experience in residential, commercial property management, or HOA accounting
Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and multi-entity property accounting
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, variance analysis)
Experience with property management accounting software (Yardi, AppFolio, Spectrum, Vantaca, or similar) preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with CAMs, boards, and leadership teams
Salary range: $65,000–$85,000 based on experience
