A leading non-profit organization is seeking a
Staff Accountant
for its Finance and Accounting department. This is a full-time, onsite role (Monday to Friday) in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The position reports to the Director of Finance and offers an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization with a strong cultural and historical presence. Primary Duties
The
Staff Accountant
will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process and maintaining accurate financial records. Key responsibilities include: Preparing month-end entries, reconciliations, and consolidated financial statements. Assisting with quarterly and annual financial statements and regulatory filings. Supporting preparation of 990 tax filings and annual audits. Maintaining general ledger accuracy and compliance with internal controls. Assisting with cash flow forecasts and performance indicators. Preparing audit schedules, journal entries, and liaising with auditors. Ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and proper record retention. Identifying errors and recommending process improvements. Performing additional administrative duties as needed. Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Experience:
Minimum 2 years in accounting with AP, AR, and reconciliations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS programs. Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct preferred. Non-profit and grant accounting experience is highly desirable. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information ethically and professionally.
