Position Summary
We are seeking a
Cost Accountant
to join our Finance & Accounting team. Ideal candidates are highly analytical, passionate about cost accounting, financial systems, and data integrity, and excited to drive profitability and operational efficiency in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities ERP Implementation & Data Management
Lead cost accounting responsibilities during the implementation of
Microsoft Business Central
ERP.
Build and maintain accurate master data including product records, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and cost structures.
Migrate cost and inventory data from the legacy
AS400
system to the new ERP platform.
Maintain cost accounting records related to dairy and food production operations.
Develop standard costs for both manufactured and purchased products.
Analyze cost variances and prepare product/category-level margin reports.
Collaborate with Marketing and Product Development to evaluate and price new SKUs.
Inventory & Regulatory Compliance
Oversee inventory valuation and ensure accuracy across systems and physical inventory.
Support month‑end and year‑end inventory reconciliations and close processes.
Ensure compliance with Federal Milk Market reporting requirements.
Financial Reporting & Strategic Project
Generate monthly cost reports and provide actionable insights for executive leadership.
Create financial models to support cost‑reduction initiatives and process improvements.
Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare depreciation entries and reports.
Assist the Controller and CFO with audits, special projects, and budget planning.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (food or dairy industry preferred).
Hands‑on experience implementing ERP systems ( Microsoft Business Central
strongly preferred).
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and variance analysis.
Familiarity with relational databases and query/reporting tools.
Experience working with legacy systems (e.g., AS400) and ERP transitions.
Soft Skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Proactive, detail‑oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
Able to train and support teammates on new systems and processes.
