Post doc in Microelectronics for Precision Neurotechnologies
Location: Center for Convergent Technologies (CCT) Genova (Italy). Commitment & contract: Collaboration contract Step into a world of endless possibilities, together let’s leave something for the future! At IIT, we are committed to advancing human-centered Science and Technology to address the most urgent societal challenges of our era. We foster excellence in both fundamental and applied research, spanning fields such as neuroscience and cognition, humanoid technologies and robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and material sciences, offering a truly interdisciplinary scientific experience. Our approach integrates cutting-edge tools and technology, empowering researchers to push the limits of knowledge and innovation. With us, your curiosity will know no bounds. We are dedicated to provide equal employment opportunities and fostering diversity in all its forms, creating an inclusive environment. We value the unique experiences, knowledge, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of our people. By embracing diversity, we believe science can achieve its fullest potential. THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal. The Microtechnology for Neuroelectronics Research Unit is coordinated by Luca Berdondini, who brings extensive experience in neurotechnology and neuroscience research. His expertise also extends to fostering innovation through technology transfer and the integration of startups. The research aims to overcome barriers in brain interfacing technologies to enhance our understanding of brain physiology and diseases, unblock bottlenecks, and develop components for next-generation precision neurotechnologies for personalised brain health care. This includes cutting-edge research on self-standing dust neuroelectronics, focusing on the study of adapted low-power, small-area CMOS neuroelectronic circuits, micro-/nano-structuring processes, experimental neuroscience research, and the development of specialized computational methods. Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be: The design, simulation, realization and testing of CMOS circuits for wirelessly powered and transmitting micro-devices Coordinate with the academic and industry partners ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microtechnology, Physics and related disciplines Documented experience in the development of CMOS circuits and electronic systems Strong publication record or relevant experience in the industry Good command of spoken and written English ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Experience in using Cadence software tools for CMOS circuits design, layout and simulation Knowledge of VHDL, C, C++, C#, Phyton would be highly desirable Ability to work in a challenging and international environment High motivation to learn Strong problem-solving attitude Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Competitive salary package for international standards Private health care coverage. Wide range of staff discounts. Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years. The Microtechnology for Neuroelectronics Research unit of IIT is part of the NEUROBOT project coordinated by University of Glasgow, and contributions of University of Manchester, University of Exeter, Newcastle University and the company Neurobite Technologies. NEUROBOT, or “Neural Microbots for Closed Loop Modulation”, aims to develop advanced neural robots for closed-loop neuromodulation, specifically targeting epilepsy treatment. This technology addresses the limitations of traditional deep brain recording and stimulation, which can disrupt normal brain function and cause side effects. The vision is to revolutionize neuromodulation therapies by creating individualized, adaptive treatments that enhance therapeutic outcomes while minimizing invasiveness. Please submit your application using the online form and include a detailed CV, university transcripts, cover letter outlining motivation, experience and qualifications, and contact details of 2 references. The position will remain open until filled. To discover more about life at IIT, visit the dedicated section here: https://www.iit.it/en/work-at-iit Fill in the form below and send your application.
