Overview
Senior SAP PP & QM Functional Analyst role at General Motors. Responsible for gathering and validating functional requirements, designing and configuring SAP solutions, and ensuring seamless system integration within GM's IT environment. Collaborates with cross-functional teams on regional and global projects, aligning with GM’s IT Solution Delivery Methodology. This is a hands-on role combining functional expertise, solution design, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership to deliver high-quality SAP solutions that support manufacturing and quality operations worldwide. This position is categorized as hybrid and requires reporting to the Limerick office three times per week. Responsibilities
Lead requirements gathering, validation, and documentation for SAP PP and QM components. Work as part of regional or global project teams; assist the project manager in delivering solutions following GM’s IT Solution Delivery Methodology. Collaborate with other functional analysts on design, development, testing, deployment, and user training of SAP solutions. Lead and support SAP upgrade and archival projects, including business and functional process gap analysis, documentation, configuration, and adherence to different SDLC methodologies (including Agile). Ensure comprehensive testing and validation of end-to-end processes; coordinate with Quality Assurance teams. Master SAP configuration and customization techniques; support the introduction of new solutions and transition to sustainment operations. Contribute to larger scale global/regional implementations as well as smaller, faster innovation challenges. Develop a deep understanding of functional aspects of SAP applications, including interfaces and bolt-ons integrated with SAP. Provide Level-3 support and lead troubleshooting in production for functional areas; coordinate with ABAP, Basis, and IT teams. Act as technical lead for large-scale initiatives; lead change management for SAP integration and software migrations. Work with SAP and integration technologies, ensuring compliance with GM standards and industry methodologies. Lead SAP solution integration within company and external landscapes; pursue continuous learning and SAP delivery improvements. Identify opportunities within the SAP solution portfolio to benefit business partners; provide user support and best-practice optimization for SAP and integrated applications. Qualifications
SAP certification in SAP PP and SAP QM. Minimum 8 years of relevant SAP PP and QM project delivery (10+ years preferred). Deep knowledge of SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP S/4HANA; hands-on experience configuring SAP PP and QM. Significant experience in Manufacturing domain; end-to-end Production Planning processes. Business-facing experience (e.g., requirement workshops, solution design, user training) in a manufacturing setting. Experience delivering in regulated environments with internal/external standards (SOX, internal controls, country-specific requirements). Hands-on PP configuration, including RICEFW and non-standard functionalities. Familiarity with project delivery methodologies (ASAP, SAFe, Prince2 or similar). Experience defining and testing SAP security roles/authorizations. Experience with middleware for interfaces (SAP PI, Sterling, Connect Direct). Excellent communication skills (English, written and spoken); structured, analytical mindset; ability to manage multiple projects. Team player with the ability to coordinate across teams. Education
Minimum a Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in IT, Business Computing, or related field. Preferred Skills
Experience solutioning for Government/Defense contracts; experience with WM. Experience programming in ABAP, Java, Python, .NET or related languages; ability to facilitate design discussions with development teams. Experience with EDI ANSI X12 and EDIFACT; related communication protocols. Understanding of security, code reuse, and software design; experience with SAP upgrades to S/4HANA. Experience with SAP Automotive solutions (VMS), Open Text document management/archiving; IT/SAP consulting background. Certified Business Analyst (e.g., BCS-ISEB) and certification in a project management/IT delivery methodology (AGILE, Scrum, ASAP, Prince2). Hybrid
