Overview
This is a part-time temporary position. This position may end at any time based on the needs of the department. Under the general supervision of the Child Abuse Unit supervisors, the Deputy Investigator performs duties related to criminal investigations of child abuse and related allegations in close collaboration with Child Protective Services, the Children’s Assessment Center, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office personnel.
Responsibilities
Interview witnesses and interrogate suspects
Attend Forensic Interviews
Prepare detailed reports
Manage a caseload
Subpoena medical records, therapy records, and any other items needed for case presentation
File charges
Testify in court
Assist other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations
Perform other assignments and duties as required and necessary

Qualifications
Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement
Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License
Prior experience in conducting conflict resolution
Must have good attendance
Knowledge
Excellent understanding and application of the Texas Penal Code as it pertains to criminal offenses
Skills
Proficiency in the use of JWEB, SUPERION/ RMS, and DIMS
Proficient in report writing and communication skills with strong organizational skills
Abilities
Manage a heavy caseload
Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines
Handle stressful investigations involving physical and sexual abuse of children
Work independently, as well as in a team environment
Bilingual
Interview and interrogation experience or training
Work Environment
Work with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners
Office and field-related responsibilities
Physical Demands
Department standards for anyone assigned to the CIB Bureau
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work Benefits: This is a part-time, temporary position without benefits
Hours
A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week
Hours are based on the needs of the department
Possibly including weekends and holidays; hours may vary based on the department's business needs
