BDO’s Asset Management and Private Equity Funds practice is a dynamic and rapidly growing practice nationwide, focused specifically on private equity funds, venture capital funds, small business investment companies (SBICs), real estate funds, hedge funds, and other alternative investment vehicles. Job Summary
The Assurance Manager is responsible for managing financial statement audit engagements for private equity funds, leading the Financial Services practice, and developing suggestions to improve client internal controls and accounting procedures. The role involves advising clients on economic and regulatory risks, identifying performance measures, formulating audit plans, and handling complex GAAP and GAAS questions. The Manager maintains key client relationships, acts as the primary contact, and supports business development, training, and networking activities. Additionally, the role involves supervision, problem resolution, and delegation during audits. Job Duties
Control Environment:
Apply advanced knowledge to establish or improve effectiveness of policies, assess internal controls, and supervise audit teams. GAAP:
Apply advanced understanding of accounting principles, interpret new pronouncements, and draft complex financial statements. SEC and PCAOB:
Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines, review filings and disclosures, and ensure audit quality. GAAS:
Apply professional standards, guide team members, and communicate with governance bodies. Methodology:
Ensure audit quality, review communications, and plan audit processes in accordance with standards. Research:
Conduct authoritative research, draw conclusions, and document findings. Manage engagement profitability, assist with marketing, and other duties as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities
Support teamwork, supervise staff, review work, provide feedback, and coach team members. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required); MBA or Master’s preferred. Minimum five years of work experience, with supervisory and team lead experience. CPA or international equivalent (required). Additional Skills and Experience
Experience in private equity/venture capital fund audits, valuation, waterfall calculations, and related areas preferred. Proficiency in assurance applications, Microsoft Office, and strong communication skills. About Us
