Senior Litigation Personal Injury Attorney
Overview
We are seeking experienced Litigation Attorneys for our Personal Injury Litigation Division for our Layton, Utah office. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil litigation or personal injury/medical malpractice work, with strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills. You will be expected to uphold our core values and contribute to our mission of caring for people through excellent legal representation.
Key Requirements
Active Arizona, Idaho, and/or Utah Bar License (mandatory based on location)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and legal writing skills
Experience in civil or criminal litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, mass torts or class actions
Must have been first chair on at least three jury trials
Must have been primary attorney on no less than 5 wrongful death cases
Must have been primary attorney on no less than 3 tractor-trailer (FMCSA/FMCSR) cases
Must have conducted at least 30 depositions as the taking attorney
Must have briefed and argued at least three summary judgment or dispositive motions
Must have briefed and argued at least five Motions in Limine
Must have empaneled or assisted in a primary role to empanel at least three juries
Must have briefed and argued at least 10 Motions to Compel / Discovery Issues
Must have prepared at least 10 witnesses for their deposition or direct examination
Must have prepared at least 10 expert witnesses for their deposition or direct examination
Must have conducted direct or cross examinations of at least 5 expert witnesses
Must have conducted at least 5 30(b)(6) depositions
Must have been the primary attorney in at least 15 mediations
Must have been first chair on at least 2 arbitrations
Must have settled/resolved at least 30 cases
Must have worked with appellate counsel or been appellate counsel on at least 2 cases
Must have filed suit on at least 50 cases
Proficiency in legal research (Lexis and Westlaw)
Strong knowledge of the applicable Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, and Rules of Professional Conduct
Ability to travel for work-related needs and activities

Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to the bar in the relevant state or the ability to rapidly obtain admission
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
Ability to travel for work-related purposes
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software

Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: up to $350,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401(k) with 3% matching
Quarterly Incentives with potential yearly value of more than $500,000 (incentives are performance-based and not guaranteed; you must be employed for the entire quarter to qualify)
