SHA is recruiting for the Transportation Engineer I – Materials and Geotechnology Track. Location: Office of Materials Technology (OMT), Anne Arundel County, Hanover Complex. This announcement may be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for SHA. Applicants must apply online to be considered. The Transportation Engineer I will perform engineering duties in support of project development, highway infrastructure, asset management, construction projects and condition assessments. In a learning capacity, the position may conduct materials certification reviews, materials QA/QC testing/evaluation in the laboratory as well as in the field, utilize materials test results in pavement/geotechnical design, perform hands-on forensic evaluations of structures, prepare inspection reports and make repair recommendations under the direction of an experienced engineer. TE I should communicate effectively with contractors, engineers and OMT personnel, review and explain project documents, specifications and drawings to contractors, and attend pre-construction and progressive meetings as a liaison between District, OMT and contractors.
