Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Plant or Fungal Genomics

Job Purpose:

The Department of Botany and the School of Computing at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track position in Plant or Fungal Genomics at the rank of Assistant Professor. We invite applications from candidates using computational approaches and genomic data to address fundamental questions in evolutionary biology. We envision an independent researcher who will develop a strong, extramurally-funded research program, and who will excel in a highly collaborative university setting through contributions to research, teaching, and outreach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The candidate will be expected to develop a strong, extramurally funded research program focused on plant or fungal genomics. We seek a colleague who is committed to participating in the community through teaching, research, service, and undergraduate and graduate student mentoring. The individual will be expected to contribute to the academic missions of the Department of Botany and the School of Computing and the interdepartmental Ph.D. Program in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in undergraduate and graduate programs.

Supplemental Functions The candidate will be expected to participate in appropriate service activities including, but not limited to, serving on department, school, college, and university committees, and graduate committees. These service functions are in addition to discipline-related service activities at the national and international levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. at the time of hire in ecology and evolutionary biology or a closely related field

A record of high quality publications in plant or fungal genomics

High potential for excellent teaching

High potential for an extramurally funded research program

Valid driver\'s license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy

Desired Qualifications

Multiple first-author publications, including high impact publications

Post-doctoral training in a related field by the time of hire

Demonstrated ability to secure external grant funding in support of research

Demonstrated capacity to conduct cutting-edge research in evolutionary genomics using computational methods

Demonstrated commitment to teaching, training, and mentoring students

Demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork and collaboration
