Substitute Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
to cover a leave of absence from Aug. 20th through approximately Dec. 1st. The teacher will use Reggio-Emilio inspired practices to foster curiosity, creativity, and diverse experiences, working closely with a co-teacher to support 15-20 students' academic and social-emotional development in preparation for kindergarten and beyond. CURRICULUM AND PLANNING
Designs and implements units based on student interests and identity Develops provocations and experiences aligned with Reggio-inspired pedagogy Creates age-appropriate, developmentally suitable lesson plans Accommodates multiple learning styles in lessons Activates students’ prior skills and knowledge Aligns lessons with school and state standards Adapts curriculum for IEPs and 504 plans THE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
Interacts respectfully with students Conveys enthusiasm for teaching Holds students to high achievement expectations Promotes collaborative learning Establishes routines and procedures Organizes physical space for optimal learning Develops student agency Assists with toileting as needed INSTRUCTION
Communicates directions and objectives clearly Uses effective speech and writing Manages instructional time effectively Facilitates transitions and maximizes learning Uses questioning to enhance thinking Encourages inclusive discussions Varies instruction for different styles Incorporates stimulating materials Adapts instruction for IEPs and 504 plans ASSESSMENT
Aligns assessments with goals Designs criteria-based assessments Provides timely feedback Uses diverse assessment strategies Uses data to improve instruction PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains records Communicates with parents Collaborates with colleagues Supports extracurricular activities Engages in professional development Follows school policies Contributes positively to school culture ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional tasks as assigned by the manager. Job Requirements
Preferably 5+ years leading early childhood classrooms Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred Massachusetts licensure in Early Childhood (PreK-2) required Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core standards Skills/Competencies
