Travel Requirement: N/A. Pay Rate: $38.39/hr. Health and Welfare: $8.78 – 11.93/hr up to 40 hours per week to be used towards health premiums. Scope of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to respond during emergency events either in the incident command system within the emergency operations center, or on scene as a hazardous materials responder. The role will assist in the development, management, and execution of the installation’s Emergency Management program, ensuring effective prevention, protection, response, and recovery actions at the operational level to allow continued mission capability at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Responsibilities
Assist in the execution of the USAFA Emergency Management program, ensuring effective prevention, protection, response, and recovery actions at the operational level to allow continued mission capability. Perform HAZMAT and/or CBRN responder duties including proper use of HAZMAT response equipment and PPE; identification of potentially hazardous substances with appropriate PPE levels; maintain CBRN/HAZMAT responder and team support equipment. Manage, schedule, and conduct installation initial and recurring Emergency Management and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) related training for USAFA disaster response force, specialized teams, and installation personnel. Support EOC and CBRN Control Center operations; provide subject-matter expertise to the EOC Director, EOC Manager, Incident Commander, and other emergency responders. Support Squadron Commander deployment readiness program as the Unit Deployment Manager, including reporting status, coordinating requirements, organizing and supporting taskings, coordinating training, and ensuring personnel meet deployment requirements. Coordinate the review and update of plans and procedures in accordance with installation Emergency Management policies and instructions and USAFA, Air Force, and DOD instructions. Perform risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments and provide written findings and recommendations on corrective actions to the Emergency Management Manager. Perform on-call duties and be able to report to work, prepare equipment, and support EOC or IC operations on short notice, 24/7. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated SECRET security clearance. Minimum 3 years’ experience in an emergency management response role. Certified HAZMAT Technician. EM HAZMAT/CBRN responders are required to meet OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120, Emergency Response Program to Hazardous Substance Releases – Employer Requirements and referenced guidance. Preferably graduate of Air Force course J3ALP3E931-003 Readiness Apprentice (Air Force Emergency Management School) or approved equivalent with experience as an AF 3E9X1 or equivalent. Experience creating and conducting emergency response installation training plans. Experience with logistics maintenance and tracking emergency response equipment. HS Diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to wear a full-face supplied air respirator with air pack. Familiarity with common operating pictures (C2IMERA highly desired). FEMA certification(s) (FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, 800) required. FEMA 300, 400 desired. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position. Physical Demands / Work Environment
Perform on-call duties and be able to report to work, prepare equipment, and support EOC or IC operations on short notice, 24/7. Must be able to perform on-call duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification. Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to wear a full-face supplied air respirator with air pack. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, push/pull, carry, stoop, bend, squat, and reach for long periods. Work may be indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions; must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE. All candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include a criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, and a 5-panel drug test, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
