– Tessera is hiring an Emergency Management Technician to support USAFA's readiness program. The role includes HAZMAT and CBRN response, training personnel, and providing expertise during emergencies. Responsibilities also involve supporting EOC operations and ensuring mission continuity. Typical duties
– Assist in executing USAFA's Emergency Management program to ensure mission continuity Perform HAZMAT and CBRN response duties using appropriate PPE and detection equipment Maintain responder and team support equipment Manage, schedule, and conduct Emergency Management and CBRN training for installation personnel Support Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and CBRN Control Center operations Provide subject-matter expertise to EOC leadership and emergency responders Serve as Unit Deployment Manager, coordinating readiness and training requirements Review and update emergency plans and procedures per USAFA, Air Force, and DoD guidance Conduct risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments with written recommendations Perform on-call duties and respond to emergencies 24/7 Qualifications Associate Degree in Disaster or Emergency Management or 4 years of related field experience required Must maintain active instructor qualifications for emergency management-related courses on an annual basis (from hire date or completion of Basic Instructor Course) Ability to wear full-face respirator with air pack Minimum 3 years' experience in emergency management response Experience in training development and emergency equipment logistics Familiarity with C2IMERA and common operating pictures (preferred) Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) Available for on-call duties and alternate shifts, including weekends/holidays Fluent in English (spoken and written) Physical Requirements Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands may be accommodated for individuals with disabilities on a case-by-case basis. May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for extended periods Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of a vehicle; stairs Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods Requirements Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance for this post Associates degree (or higher) in Emergency & Disaster Management with 1+ years of field experience, or 4+ years of related experience without a degree Completion of Air Force Emergency Management courses (strongly desired). If specific courses are not completed, prior attendance in approved equivalents is acceptable A valid state driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain Tessera insurance coverage REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or acceptable alternative for access to federal installations Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances; background check and E-Verify will be conducted Union Affiliation This position is represented by IBEW Local 113 and UA Local 58.
