Delta Correctional Facility (DCC) is located approximately nine miles west of Delta, Colorado. The facility has a population of about 480 male inmates and a capacity of 477 inmates at minimum custody levels on a site of approximately 113.85 acres. What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

Work directly with inmates in a locked facility and monitor/ control access to the facility and restricted areas. Man an armed post (annual firearms certification required); monitor facility perimeter and detain unidentified pedestrians or vehicles. Operate mechanical doors, security devices, equipment and alarms; control inmate movement throughout the daily schedule. Escort and transport inmates in state vehicles; monitor visiting areas; conduct counts and maintain movement logs. Conduct searches for contraband (canine, metal detector, pat-downs, perimeter, strip and vehicle searches); inspect facility and cells for health, safety and sanitation standards; inspect inmate mail and property. Respond to emergencies (fights, medical emergencies, fires, escapes) using established protocols; follow tool and key control procedures; document incidents and communicate information to coworkers and supervisors. Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license; be able to operate a motor vehicle safely. No felonies; ability to pass a background investigation and health screening; ability to pass Basic Training modules including Defensive Tactics and related assessments. Must be willing to work all shifts, weekends and holidays; able to travel and transport inmates; able to use physical force as trained and to work in a locked correctional facility or environment. TB screening required for new employees; successful completion of all training modules; and willingness to be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during training and assignment. Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual; mentoring or volunteer experience. Required Competencies

Strong work ethic, accountability, integrity and dependability. Sound judgment, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write and communicate in English; ability to observe and report accurately; teamwork and customer service orientation. Knowledge of criminal justice systems, CDOC policies and regulations; basic computer skills and ability to document activities clearly. Ability to learn and apply corrective methods to prepare inmates for community reentry; ability to handle stressful and potentially violent situations; ability to operate security equipment and firearms safely. Willingness to follow chain of command and safety protocols; ability to respond quickly to emergencies; tolerance to stress and confinement; ability to work outdoors in inclement weather. Conditions of Employment

Applicants must acknowledge and agree to Conditions of Employment; must be legally eligible to work in the United States; CDOC uses e-Verify. Must have no felony convictions related to acts described in applicable U.S. codes; successful completion of a background investigation; pass health screening. New Officers may be assigned to shifts after Basic Training; possess or obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license; must meet driving record criteria for state vehicles. TB screening is required; some positions require travel and/or 24/7 shifts; random drug screening may occur; all facilities are tobacco-free. Important Information
