Research Technician

to support our cutting-edge research in immune regulation. The lab investigates mechanisms of immune tolerance across host–microbiota interactions, autoimmunity, cancer, and early-life immune development. Recent work from the lab has defined the cell types and mechanisms that instruct peripheral regulatory T cell development and tolerance to the gut microbiota. Led by physician–scientist

Dr. Chrysothemis Brown , the lab bridges mechanistic studies in experimental models with translational human immunology, collaborating closely with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and the Hospital for Special Surgery. The Brown Lab is located in the state-of-the-art Zuckerman Research Center on the Tri-Institutional campus (MSK, Weill Cornell, and Rockefeller University) in New York City’s Upper East Side—an exceptional environment for scientific growth, collaboration, and career development. This position is ideal for candidates who are interested in working 2 years prior to pursuing graduate or medical school, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and mentorship in a leading immunology lab.

What You Will Do

Conduct experiments using in vivo mouse models, including animal handling, dissections, and tissue processing Manage mouse colonies, including breeding and genotyping Perform immune phenotyping via high-dimensional flow cytometry Prepare samples for single-cell genomics workflows (scRNA-seq / scATAC-seq) Carry out molecular biology and microbiology experiments (e.g., bacterial cultures, genome editing) Maintain accurate records and protocols using an electronic lab notebook Collaborate closely with team members, contribute to lab meetings, and assist in training new members

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field Required: Experience with animal handling and mouse colony management Highly Preferred: Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and animal dissection / tissue processing Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced lab environment Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset — enjoys collaborating and contributing to shared goals Genuine enthusiasm for science, curiosity, and a desire to learn new techniques

Physical Requirements

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace.
