Job Summary
Savannah State University's Department of Engineering Technology invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Physics position beginning Fall 2025. This role supports the department's mission of excellence in teaching, applied research, and industry engagement. The successful candidate will teach 15 credit hours of undergraduate Physics courses per semester, participate in curriculum development, and contribute to student recruitment and retention efforts. Responsibilities
Effectively teach college level physics courses from the approved curriculum with an assigned schedule. Maintain current instruction and discipline-specific knowledge through professional development, seminars, certifications, and conferences. Provide mentoring to program students and student organizations. Engage in student success activities. Perform program assessment as assigned. Deliver quality instruction ensuring student satisfaction using different techniques of teaching. Assist students in achieving completion of objectives. Motivate students to actively participate in learning physics. Advise students in matters related to academics. Participate in SSU recruitment and retention initiatives. May be required to perform job related duties other than those specifically delineated in this position Required Qualifications
Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Physics Knowledge of Algebra-based and college Physics labs Ph.D. Degree in physics preferred. A minimum of 2 years teaching experience from an accredited institution is considered a plus. Proposed Salary: $52,000.00 to $57,500.00 annually. Review of applications will begin upon receipt.
