Overview
Staff Structural Water Engineer role at Black & Veatch. This position focuses on the design of structures which support water purification and treatment facilities, making water supplies more resilient and sustainable. The engineer will design a variety of structural systems, collaborate with other disciplines, and deliver critical water infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities. Supervise Structural Engineers (US and overseas) and work with Structural Technicians in the preparation of structural drawings and specifications. Lead larger production teams and serve as the responsible charge for projects. Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and review of contractor submittals. Perform project administrative tasks, which may include: preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, management of project changes, and implementation of Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements. Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers. Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values up to $100M. Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies. Assist in developing and updating engineering standards. Provide technical guidance to others and support continuous improvement efforts. Implements resource management strategy including managing resources for a small group. Preferred Qualifications
Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET-accredited Structural Engineering program. Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 530. Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, or SAP2000. Proficiency with non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program (home country or country of practice) or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and ability to support where necessary. Certifications
Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary. Work Environment/Relocation
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days. Position may be located in any BV U.S. office locations; some roles may be relocation eligible.
