Geologist III
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Geologist III for the Cortez open‑pit mine. The role focuses on mine geology, ore control, and execution of drill programs to support the mine plan, expand reserves, and identify new ore zones that drive earnings and growth. The candidate will use Acquire, Leapfrog, Deswik, and Vulcan software and collaborate with mine geologists, technical services staff, mine operations, and diamond drillers. Safety orientation is required. Responsibilities
Drive zero‑harm safety workplace through stop work responsibility and other safety programs. Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Exploration, Safety and Finance). Build technical knowledge for geological mapping, drilling, and logging programs. Ensure best practices are utilized, understood, and followed. Mentor and train junior geologists. Perform daily surface field work and drill inspections. Perform daily mine geology activities (blast hole mapping and face wall mapping). Track ore control duties by monitoring material from the mine to the process facilities. Design, implement, track, drill programs and interpret results. Engage with geology and resource modeling team to ensure accurate, fit‑for‑purpose geological models and mineral estimations are provided, leveraging all available data to maximize value in every model. Design, prepare and implement proposals, cost tracking, cost estimates and expenditure requests for production drill programs. Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field. Minimum four (4) years’ experience in open pit or underground mine geology. Experience leading technical teams with strong interdepartmental communication skills. Familiarity with Vulcan, Deswik, Leapfrog, and Acquire software. Proven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent safety record and leadership. Benefits
