Sanitation Team Member - 2nd Shift at Emmi Roth Summary The Sanitation Team Member performs a variety of essential tasks to assist in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards to enable the production of safe and high-quality cheese products. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility, adhering to strict food safety regulations, and following standard operating procedures. The primary goal is to support the production team by keeping the facility clean, organized, and free from potential contaminants.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and sanitation of all areas in the food manufacturing facility, including production lines, equipment, tools, floors, walls, and storage areas.

Monitor flow rates, time, temperature, steps and conductivity of CIP system.

Follow standard cleaning procedures and guidelines to meet food safety regulations and maintain a sanitary environment.

Remove waste and debris from production areas and dispose of it in designated containers according to waste management protocols.

Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for proper cleaning and sanitization.

Conduct chemical test levels on COP and CIP tanks daily.

Stock and rotate chemicals in storage area; ensure chemical containers are properly labeled, remove and store empty containers properly.

Safely and efficiently handle and use cleaning agents, sanitizers, and equipment effectively and safely to achieve optimal cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination.

Document cleaning activities, including logs, checklists, and records, as required by regulatory agencies and internal quality control standards.

Record daily chemical use in the CIP log.

Ensure CIP charts are changed daily and are operating correctly.

Attend training sessions on sanitation procedures, safety protocols, and new cleaning techniques.

Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).

Adhere to safety guidelines and comply with all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Identify and report potential safety hazards to ensure a safe working environment.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous experience in sanitation or janitorial work in a food processing environment is preferred but not required.

Ability to read and interpret work instructions.

Attention to detail and commitment to a high-quality sanitation environment.

Physical stamina to perform physical requirements of the job, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in varying temperatures.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change.

Ability to work overtime or extended shifts as needed.

Excellent teamwork skills.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is a plus.

Ability to adhere to strict personal hygiene practices, including wearing designated work attire and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements

Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for disassembling and reassembling packaging machinery.

Physical stamina and endurance to perform tasks that require prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel for extended periods as necessary.

Ability to hear and effectively communicate with team members in a noisy production environment.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and strong odors.

Ability to work at heights using ladders or elevated platforms, as needed.

Ability to safely operate electric pallet jacks and other equipment, following proper procedures and safety guidelines.

Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including wearing safety shoes, gloves, and any other necessary gear.

Willingness to comply with proper lifting techniques and ergonomics to minimize the risk of injury.

Flexibility and agility to navigate work areas and access equipment in confined spaces.

Work Environment

The work environment may have varying temperature and humidity levels; may involve working in cool or cold areas.

Most of the time will be spent on the production floor, where general production activities take place. This area can be loud and busy, with multiple machines operating simultaneously.

You should be comfortable working in an environment with distinct cheese-related odors.

Safety is a top priority. Follow established safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE, such as safety shoes, gloves, and any other necessary gear.
