Assistant Nurse Manager (FGP)
Manhattan . Responsibilities
Specific activities include, but are not limited to: Foster a culture aligned with NYULH\u2019s tripartite mission: to serve, to teach, and to discover. Collaborate with interprofessional teams to ensure excellence in quality, patient experience, and efficiency. Develop positive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships and achieve shared goals. Facilitate and support positive work and care environments founded on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Demonstrate commitment to staff development through mentoring, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline as appropriate. Collaborate with the nurse manager on hiring, onboarding, orientation, education, and evaluation; support clinical rotations with school affiliations. Evaluate performance and practice of designated personnel in a fair and transparent manner. Serve as a role model and resource for staff; promote professional growth and development. Monitor attendance, ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix to optimize patient outcomes and safety while supporting fiscal responsibility. Coordinate care delivery and staffing based on patient care needs and clinical competency for unit operation and outcomes. Assist with scheduling, payroll, and integration of services across the care continuum. Provide direct patient care as needed to support clinical operations; provide leadership support for other units as needed. Maintain accreditation and regulatory standards; communicate clearly and with integrity to build trust with stakeholders. Report significant patient care issues, safety, risk management concerns, and critical events to leadership; participate in unit initiatives. Participate in drafting nursing and organizational policy; engage frontline staff and support shared governance. Support data collection with the nurse manager to analyze quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics to improve outcomes. Foster high reliability, inquiry, and evidence-based practice; mentor staff and lead staff involvement in nursing research and quality improvement. Exercise independent judgment in duties including discipline, evaluation, time-off approvals, and staff assignments. Clinical Responsibilities
Coordinate, integrate, communicate, implement and evaluate nursing practice and clinical policies/procedures. Ensure clinical compliance with patient safety initiatives and reporting; support key quality initiatives to impact outcome measures. Demonstrate knowledge of NYULH service standards and signatures of clinical standards; participate in activities related to clinical standards and external regulations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to promote collegial relationships and patient care in a healing environment. Provide leadership and resources to nursing, clinical staff, and providers; participate in clinical inquiry and evidence-based practice. Uphold ethical obligations and patient confidentiality; provide emergency care per organizational policy. Delegate and oversee nursing interventions to implement care plans in the health care team as appropriate. Professional
Engage in self-assessment and pursue professional growth; maintain current nursing knowledge and competence as FGP Ambulatory Nurse. Apply new knowledge to clinical practice; mentor peers and report professional misconduct appropriately. Implementation / Provision of Care
Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed providers; assess patients and plan care; identify and report complications. Coordinate care with respiratory therapists, physical therapists, social workers, physicians, NPs, PAs, dietitians, navigators, and discharge planners. Provide direct care, including treatments, medication administration, patient education, and health counseling. Care Management & Planning
Collect and document patient data; perform on-site testing and a range of procedures per scope of practice. Administer medications and manage IV therapy; initiate and discontinue IV lines; maintain vascular access and manage complications. Manage clinical in-baskets, triage results, and communicate findings to providers; support case management for defined populations. Health Promotion & Education
Identify health deviations; collect data, develop patient-centered plans of care, educate patients and families, and promote healthy adjustments. Assess learning needs and barriers to care; collaborate with patients to set individualized goals. Patient Experience
Act as NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador, upholding mission, vision, and values in every encounter. Promote CARES service principles; ensure positive patient experiences and timely resolutions; foster collaboration with site management. Proactively anticipate patient needs and participate in service recovery; share improvement ideas with leadership. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse license; Baccalaureate degree in Nursing; leadership certification on eligibility; strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills; Basic Life Support (American Heart Association); physical stamina and ability to perform duties; ability to handle reasonably heavy weight. Required Licenses:
Registered Nurse License-NYS; Basic Life Support Certification. Preferred Qualifications:
Master\u2019s degree in nursing or related field; two or more years of clinical practice with the patient population; ACLS; membership in professional organizations. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Additional Information
