Assist teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well-being. Work individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction, monitor performance, and support learning. Provide instructional and classroom management supports, as well as related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in all classrooms or learning environments. Physical Demands

Frequent bending, walking, running, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds may be required. May require moving wheelchairs, assisting with toileting, feeding and other daily living activities. May assist with self-care plans; able to kneel and work on the floor with students; able to walk for long periods. Assistance with physically aggressive behaviors required. Special Requirements

Outside duty may be required. Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling and change of location and/or program, as needed. May require training to accommodate students\' special needs. Performs medical tasks as authorized by the Maryland Nurse Practice Act after training, including administration of medications and/or treatments such as G-tube feedings or clean, intermittent/non-complex bladder catheterization. Job Type: Full-time Location: Farmland Elementary School, Rockville, MD Schedule: 6 hours daily (9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) Wage Range: $23.61 – $34.82 per hour, based on years of service Education, Training, and Experience: See Qualifications below Qualifications

Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies appropriate to Montgomery County Public Schools. Ability to assist with implementation of instructional programs and monitor/ensure appropriate student behavior. Ability to work with children, young adults, and staff; follow written and verbal instructions; and communicate effectively in writing and speech. Competence with standard desktop software (e.g., MS Office) and familiarity with SSPGS core competencies. Education and Experience (in order of preference): AA degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred (education-related coursework encouraged). Or 48 college credits with two years of education-related experience (including preschool or after-school programs); or two years of education-related experience plus successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment with a qualifying score (455+). Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills required. CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None. Other Information
