Assistant Professor of Biology – Immunology (tenure-track) at Colby College, Waterville, ME. The Department of Biology is seeking an immunologist to fill an open tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. Responsibilities
Teach 4.5 courses per year, including Laboratory components and discussion-based seminars. Courses include BI225 Immunology (with lab), BI325 Advanced Immunology (no lab), an additional course in the applicant’s area of expertise, and a rotation in BI163 The Cellular Basis of Life. Establish an active undergraduate research program with supervision and mentoring of undergraduates. Collaborate with colleagues; potential interfaces with physiology, cell biology, molecular/structural biology, neurobiology, endocrinology, or reproductive biology. Contribute to the access, opportunity, and excellence of the campus community through teaching, research, and mentorship. Engage with possible collaborations via affiliations with the Jackson Laboratory, Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory, and Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences. Qualifications
Ph.D. in biological sciences with emphasis in molecular, cellular or developmental biology, genetics, or biochemistry. Demonstrated expertise in immunology with a research program addressing questions of fundamental immunology or biomedical applications. Commitment to undergraduate education; teaching experience is desirable. Application process
