HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer (PE) for the Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our integrated facility and infrastructure design team covers Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This role will design facility-related sites in support of the Data Center market, with future opportunities across Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, and Sports & Recreation buildings and infrastructure. The engineer will coordinate with a multi-discipline design team throughout planning, construction documentation, and construction administration. Experience in land development and the design of building-related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. The candidate should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with initiative to deliver high-quality, technically sound designs. In the role of Site Civil Engineer, we’ll count on you to: Design and produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimates for site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and related civil engineering activities Perform calculations to support site development (stormwater pond sizing, culvert and pipe capacity analysis, hydrology calcs, etc.) Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed; act as Engineer of Record on non-complex projects Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed Author technically sound, well-organized and grammatically correct reports Contribute to the development of civil engineering scope of work and budgets for proposals Coordinate with internal and external resources to complete due diligence research and documentation Understand and meet jurisdictional requirements; support the Pre-Application process; coordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to determine design and submittal requirements Transition concept plans through schematic and construction design processes Coordinate with subconsultants for support and design services Attend and contribute to client meetings Use engineering judgment to determine the best course of action Be independent in pursuing information and solutions Manage time and organize multiple tasks/projects Communicate effectively with managers and team members Pursue efficiencies within work and operations Mentor junior staff and delegate appropriate tasks Be an advocate for HDR, the BES Business Group, and the Site Civil team Perform other tasks that support the mission and vision of HDR and the BES Business Group Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 3 years' experience in general civil engineering Proficient with CAD civil engineering software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D; familiarity with specialty civil platforms (e.g., OpenFlows) as required Required Qualifications Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer PE or P.Eng) Demonstrated leadership and communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Good verbal and written communication skills Active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe
