This role requires strong leadership and technical expertise to manage a team of operators and staff while driving efficiency and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include scheduling operations, maintaining equipment, ensuring adherence to metallurgy specifications, and collaborating with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to meet production goals. The ideal candidate brings extensive heat treat experience, knowledge of industry standards, and a commitment to fostering a high-performing team in a manufacturing environment. Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance: 1. Lead and manage all heat treat operations, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and team performance. 2. Supervise a team of employees, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. 3. Ensure heat treatment processes meet internal and customer quality standards, including metallurgy specifications and hardness requirements. 4. Work closely with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure on-time delivery of quality products. 5. Oversee preventative maintenance programs and work collaboratively with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime. 6. Monitor KPIs and implement process improvements to drive operational efficiency, reduce scrap, and optimize labor and materials usage. 7. Train, coach, and evaluate team members, support employee development and succession planning. 8. Responsible for Nadcap heat treat audits 9. Maintain strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and operational protocols. 10.Observe the Hitchiner code of conduct, safety, and quality principles. 11.This position requires frequent presence on the production floor. Additional Responsibilities: 1. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: 1. A minimum of 5+ years in heat treat operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment producing small parts and 5+ years leadership experience managing production teams. 2. Strong knowledge of heat treat equipment (e.g., furnaces, quench systems), metallurgy, and related processes. 3. Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred. 4. Experience in aerospace, automotive, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments 5. Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP quality standards and lean manufacturing principles 6. Must demonstrate the ability to handle both administrative and mechanical responsibilities. 7. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
