Overview

The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation, researching the best materials at the best cost. The team works across a variety of sites, including existing buildings with unique challenges, and focuses on sustainable, value-driven design within evolving building and environmental legislation. Most team members have an architectural or engineering background, and the role offers opportunities to gain expertise in design and project management in a thought-provoking setting. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will ensure information is available to the Construction Team and other departments to support the project programme. You will liaise with and advise other departments on technical and interface matters and provide back-up and information flow. You will coordinate all technical information on projects from inception to completion. Responsibilities

Brief, manage and drive external consultants in the preparation and issuance of production information to an agreed programme, fee, and scope. Prepare technical specifications in line with requirements determined by the Land Acquisition budget and Technical/Sales Meetings. Prepare and monitor the Design Programme and present it at Progression Meetings. Ensure all statutory enquiries, crossovers, sewer connections and other legal agreements are submitted and pursued for timely completion. Oversee NHBC/Building Regulations applications to approval. Ensure working drawings comply with the approved Planning Scheme and discharge of planning conditions. Monitor and control all production information in close liaison with the Commercial Department to ensure tight cost controls and alignment with budget estimates. Monitor and control the Professional Fees budget and update fee reports monthly for valuation meetings. Ensure that the Group Policy and Procedures are fully managed and controlled. Oversee preparation and approval of Brochure Plans, Conveyance Plans and Sales Area drawings. Attend site progress meetings and carry out site inspections. Attend meetings at various project stages (Land/Technical hand-over, Project Meeting, Optimisation, Progression, Technical/Sales, Budget Meetings, etc.). Coordinate general liaison and coordination between internal and external parties. Attend Subcontractor interviews and meetings where appropriate. Respond to site queries and resolve technical/construction problems. Issue drawings and information for construction purposes. Qualifications and Skills

Qualified as a Civil / Building Engineer or having a Construction-related degree with relevant experience (HNC/HND in a built environment subject acceptable). Working knowledge of house and apartment construction, Building Regulations, NHBC, Party Wall Awards and related legislation. Strong communication, meeting, and management skills for dealing with multi-disciplined teams. Ability to recognise problems and resolve them quickly and effectively. Ability to set tasks and manage others; ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Customer-focused mindset with a drive to exceed expectations. Excellent communication at all levels, with high attention to detail. Competent IT skills including AutoCAD/Revit. What we offer and why Barratt Redrow PLC
