Mids or Nights The community you’ll be caring for: Our care for patients extend to the spiritual level by praying with patients and families and providing on call, 24 hours, 7 days a week Chaplains for spiritual support. Award winning facility and departments including “Great Place to Work” by Becker’s Hospital Review and Gallup. The role you’ll contribute: The registered nurse utilizes principles of the nursing process to provide for the continuity of nursing care administered to a specific group of patients consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the Emergency Room and hospital administration. The value you’ll bring to the team: Provides for delivery of patient care through assessment with identification and prioritization of presenting problems or needs, to facilitate optimum patient care. Evaluates patients presented to the Emergency Room upon their arrival. Assesses the patient's status on admission by performing a pertinent physical assessment and obtaining a nursing history as documented in the E.R. record and in accordance with Standards of Care. Performs continuing assessment of patient's condition throughout the time in Emergency Room until discharge or admission as documented in E.R. record. Recognizes potential emergency/life threatening situations and implements preventive measures. Specific responsibilities include: Cardiac - Accurate assessment of cardiac patients and interpretation of EKG monitor. Abdomen - Demonstrates competence in assessment of abdomen complaints including auscultation of bowel sounds. Respiratory - Recognizes urgent/emergent complaints and initiates prompt interventions. OB/GYN - Demonstrates appropriate assessment of OB/GYN patients including FHT's, LMP and recognizes urgent situations. EENT - Demonstrates competence in accurate history taking and rapid intervention of patients and EENT complaints. Dermatological complaints - Displays accurate assessment of patients presenting a rash or animal, human, snake or insect bites/stings and initiates appropriate and prompt treatment. Renal/Urinary - Initiates appropriate actions on patients presenting with UTI's, kidney stones, etc. Psychiatric Conditions - Demonstrates appropriate assessment and intervention of acute and chronic psychiatric patients, implementing safety precautions as needed. Infectious Diseases - Recognizes infectious diseases and initiates appropriate isolation precautions. Drug-Related Complaints - Recognizes and performs pertinent assessment and intervention anaphylaxis/allergic reactions and overdose patients. Trauma - Demonstrates appropriate assessment of lacerations, orthopedic injuries, neurological injuries, multisystem injuries, simple and complex injuries and their implications. Homicide/Suicide - Demonstrates appropriate assessment of mechanism of injury and of homicide/suicide patients and notifies pertinent agencies and preserves evidence correctly. Pediatric - Recognizes urgent/emergent problems associated with the pediatric patient. Diagnostic Testing - Recognizes lab, x-ray, and ABG abnormalities. Qualifications A graduate of an accredited school of nursing or degree program. BSN Required, will consider ADN enrolled in BSN program with graduation date. 2+ years of experience in ED, trauma or urgent care to establish base of knowledge required. Current license or permit issued by the state of Texas to practice as a registered nurse or in a qualifying compact State. Achieves and maintains BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC or ENPC
