Description
Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist provides simulation and radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established standards and practices. Coordinates and direct the daily work activities of the Staff Radiation Therapists. Oversees, directs, and instructs Staff Radiation Therapists in the daily administration of Simulation and Linear Accelerator treatment. Coordinates, oversees and participates in the verification, delivery, and documentation of a prescribed course of radiation therapy to patients as prescribed per physician, in accordance with generally accepted radiation therapy practices and departmental procedures. Explains procedures to patient and insures the clinical, physical, and psychological needs of the patients are met. Interfaces with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists and Nurses as needed to insure smooth operations. Elevates any issues or problems to the Chief Radiation Therapists, if unable to come to satisfactory resolution. Attends regularly scheduled lead therapist meetings with the Chief Radiation Therapist to coordinates activities to ensure effective communication and cohesive operation of the programs, the department, and the hospital. Assists with orientation, supervision and oversees the training of new hires, and continually evaluate the skills of radiation therapists to ensure competence on the Simulator and Linear Accelerator treatment machines. Assists the Chief Radiation Therapists in the preparation of work schedules to assure appropriate coverage. Provides feedback for employee performance reviews, promotions and disciplinary actions, as appropriate. Instructs, supervises, checks, and evaluates all student work. Assures staff therapists adhere to established teaching processes and elevates any issues or problems to the Chief Radiation Therapist for further action, if unable to come to satisfactory resolution.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program.
Professional ARRT certification is mandatory.
Five years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist, inclusive of previous work-leader/targeted experience.
Technical expertise and able toorganize, set priorities, and remain clam in extremely stressful or emergency situations.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership role
