Overview
Radiation Therapist Lead provides simulation and radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician, under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist. The role coordinates and directs the daily work of Staff Radiation Therapists, oversees daily administration of Simulation and Linear Accelerator treatment, and ensures delivery and documentation of prescribed radiation therapy in accordance with established practices and departmental procedures. The position interfaces with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists and Nurses to ensure smooth operations and participates in lead therapist meetings to coordinate activities within the programs, department, and hospital. Responsibilities
Supervise, direct, and instruct Staff Radiation Therapists in daily Simulation and Linear Accelerator treatment activities. Coordinate, oversee, and participate in verification, delivery, and documentation of prescribed radiation therapy. Explain procedures to patients and address clinical, physical, and psychological needs. Elevate issues to the Chief Radiation Therapist when resolution is not reached. Attend lead therapist meetings with the Chief Radiation Therapist to ensure effective communication and cohesive operation. Assist with orientation, supervision, and ongoing training of new hires; evaluate staff competence on Simulator and Linear Accelerator equipment. Assist in work scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage; provide feedback for employee performance reviews, promotions, and disciplinary actions as appropriate. Instruct, supervise, check, and evaluate student work; ensure adherence to established teaching processes. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program. B.S. degree preferred. Professional ARRT certification is mandatory. Five years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist, including leadership or targeted leadership experience. Technical competence, ability to organize, set priorities, and remain calm in stressful or emergency situations. Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role. Job Details
