Overview
Medical technologist support high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. Prepares specimens for testing, performs routine and specialized laboratory tests, conducts quality control, troubleshoots QC errors and maintenance procedures, recognizes and evaluates computer data problems, troubleshoots laboratory instruments, performs preventive maintenance, communicates technical information to medical and lay persons, assists with training laboratory personnel, participates in continuing education, recognizes normal and abnormal values, and models Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities. Responsibilities

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related medical or scientific discipline with 0-1 year experience. Required License Certification and Registration
Must have met the educational requirements for and passed a recognized Certification Examination for Medical Technologist (also known as Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS or Clinical Laboratory Scientist, CLS). Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC). If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment. Notes
