About the Role

The Transition Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the New York PDC facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all employees and visitors. This position focuses on the effective transition of janitorial duties during shift changes or facility updates, guaranteeing continuity and consistency in cleaning operations. The janitor will be responsible for managing cleaning supplies, performing routine and deep cleaning tasks, and promptly addressing any sanitation issues that arise. By upholding high standards of cleanliness, the Transition Janitor directly contributes to the overall operational efficiency and positive workplace atmosphere. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work collaboratively with facility management and other support staff to meet organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial services.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a consumer support services or similar facility environment.
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Certification in janitorial or custodial services.
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers or buffers.
  • Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal throughout the facility.
  • Manage the transition of janitorial duties between shifts to ensure seamless continuity and thorough coverage of all cleaning areas.
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify and address sanitation or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting needs for replenishment to management.
  • Collaborate with facility management and other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules and special projects.
