Job Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the club’s accounting functions and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This includes managing day‑to‑day accounting operations (accounts payable, receivables, payroll, general ledger reconciliations), assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, maintaining internal controls, and support. The role will also work closely with department heads, CFO, and leadership to provide financial insights to aid decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all accounting operations:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Payroll processing & compliance
- HR- insurance & benefits
- General ledger transactions and reconciliations
- Bank account reconciliations and cash management
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for internal management
- Assist with annual operating budget and capital budget; monitor performance vs budget and report variances
- Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets
- Coordinate with external auditors; prepare audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries
- Monitor member dues, member billing, and ensure receivables are collected in a timely manner
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure payables are handled efficiently
- Provide financial analysis & reports to support departmental and strategic decisions
- Maintain accurate fixed asset schedules and depreciation
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial and tax regulations, including sales tax, payroll tax, etc.
- Work with General Manager and leadership on longer‑term financial projects (e.g. pricing, cost control, investment in facility maintenance)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus
- Experience with Clubessential POS accounting platform a major plus
- Minimum 3‑5 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in a private club, hospitality, or similar environment is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Excellent skills in accounting software and systems (e.g. general ledger, payroll systems, POS integrations, etc.)
- Must have excellent skills with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks/priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with all levels of club leadership and membership
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics
Working Conditions & Environment
- Office environment: regular business hours in office, but occasional extra hours may be required during month/year end or special periods
- Occasional presence during member events to ensure financial coordination
- Salary dependent on experience and qualifications
