Job Summary The Assistant Store Manager collaborates with the Store Manager and leadership team to develop, document, and implement practices, policies, and strategies that support a performance‑driven culture. This person will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dispensary and handling the needs of all patients/customers. In conjunction with the Store Manager, this role is responsible for hiring and developing a team of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about cannabis and compliant with state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

Oversee and perform all functions associated with management of a retail medical marijuana dispensary operating under licensure.

Administer routine inspections to maintain accurate inventory of all cannabis products.

Manage and supervise dispensary staff, making recommendations or decisions regarding hiring, discipline, termination, or advancement.

Ensure all procedures are updated and provide best practice for staff and patients.

Train dispensary staff to maintain consistent performance and knowledge of company standard operating procedures and product information.

Ensure key performance indicators are captured.

Manage daily financial reporting and oversee all cash handling procedures.

Develop and maintain a schedule of all dispensary staff.

Communicate patient incidents or complaints to the Store Manager or Compliance team.

Protect patient rights through HIPAA education and confidentiality.

Oversee patient education and counseling programs.

Assist in implementing the strategic plan for dispensary operations and expansion.

Maintain awareness of industry developments and competitive landscape.

Ensure compliance with all relevant statutes, regulations, and directives.

Ensure a patient‑friendly environment and 100% product traceability.

Maintain store appearance and cleanliness.

Qualifications

Must meet minimum age requirements as determined by local, state, and federal requirements.

Must complete background check as required by local, state, and federal requirements.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Physical aptitude necessary for manual labor tasks: sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, carrying boxes, lifting up to 75 lbs., and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.

Experience 1‑3 years in retail, customer care, or equivalent leadership role.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a dispensary setting; environment may be odorous, loud, and temperature fluctuating.

Involves frequent contact with staff, vendors, customers, law enforcement, and state inspectors.

Physical Requirements

Frequent customer communication and accurate information exchange.

Operate computer/POS systems and standard office equipment.

Remain stationary when checking in customers or operating the register.

Move and transport dispensary products up to 30 lbs. throughout the dispensary.

Twist, turn, bend, stand, and walk as required for dispensary duties.
